Last Sunday night I was honored to attend the 90th birthday celebration for long-time friend and role model George Shaber. George grew up in Boise, and things were tough in his childhood. He lived at the Y during his senior year at Boise High. He joined the marines and earned a Purple Heart while in Guam. He has had a very full and successful life by any measure. He served his country with honor; he is a wonderful father and husband; he had a great career. Today he is simply one of the kindest, most generous and wisest men I know. George, thanks for being a friend and mentor for all these years. I look forward to celebrating your 91stbirthday.
