November is Obesity Awareness Month, and the YMCA Healthy Living Center would like to invite you to help us raise awareness by getting active and “taking steps” to support those with bariatric needs and raise awareness about obesity issues in America! Let’s walk more and increase our steps this November, and to start off on the right foot, we’re hosting a Kick-off Step Event!
Kick-off Step Event:
Saturday, October 29th
11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Kleiner Park, Meridian, ID
Picnic Shelter B-1
See google map here »
The event is inclusive and FREE to participate, open to the community, and appropriate for all activity levels and abilities. However, if you would like to be eligible to win a FitBit® and other great prizes (like training packages through the YMCA Healthy Living Center), you can register online here for a $10 fee. Click here to register online »
Day-of registration will also be available at the event. Those who register then will still be eligible to win the FitBit® prize and more.
*All participants will receive a commemorative awareness bracelet!
SPREAD THE WORD, RAISE AWARENESS
Following the event, we encourage all participants to keep walking. Get those steps in! Track them however you like, and share your successes! Here’s some ways to share your activity and raise awareness about obesity during the month of November:
Facebook/Instagram – Take a picture of you walking and share with your social media friends. Tag @Treasure Valley Family YMCA and have fun with #hashtags. Here are some good ones:
Form walking groups – Get a fun group together and take advantage of the crisp Fall air. Again, take pics and share on social media!
Lunchtime is for Walking – Challenge yourself and your coworkers to “step out” on your lunch breaks. Every little step counts!
BIG THANK YOU TO OUR EVENT SPONSOR:
