Y Outdoor Education (YOE) classes for Y Camp Horsethief Reservoir are based on Idaho State and Next Generation Science Standards. We use our 415 acres of forest, mountains, wetlands and waterfront as an outdoor classroom. Lessons and activities are designed to build an understanding of ecological principals and the relationship between each student and the natural world. We incorporate the YMCA’s cores values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility into every aspect of our program. Our qualified staff instruct all classes and activities.
Cooperation and communication are of primary importance and we encourage students to work together and appreciate their individual talents by creating positive social interactions among peers. Traditional camp adventures and team-building with different activities such as canoeing, archery and our climbing tower that is shaped in the form of Idaho are also available.
