Recently, I was honored to be a part of an event that celebrated the history of our Jewish Community in Boise. Did you know we had one of the first synagogues in the Western United States? In fact, this synagogue was located directly across the street from the Downtown YMCA from the day we opened our doors in 1968 to October of 2003. During this time, we had a great partnership with the Jewish community, and I often tell people that the synagogue was the only neighbor we had where we were given our own key so we could access and use the building whenever we needed it. This came in handy often, and the synagogue came to be a lifesaver on more than one occasion.
