West YMCA classes will resume mid-September, please check back for next available session.
Prior to attending a Pilates Mat, Pilates Reformer or Pilates Chair classes, new students must complete the Basic Principles course. This course introduces students to the techniques, cues and movements of Pilates. This class will focus specifically on breathing, pelvic, ribcage and head placement as well as shoulder stabilization. Then, use these concepts in the Essential Workout, to help to build core strength and flexibility as well as bring awareness to body alignment. Students will be introduced to all equipment used in mat classes as well as the Pilates Reformer during the last session.
The Basic Principles class is truly an educational training, providing all the tools and information needed to prepare one to experience all the benefits possible from incorporating Pilates into their wellness routines. This policy helps ensure the safety of all our students.
