CPR & First Aid Certification Classes


The YMCA offers American Safety & Health Institute (ASHI) Community CPR & First Aid Courses. The goal of CPR/AED for the Community and the Workplace is to provide the individual with the basic knowledge and skills necessary to provide effective basic life support in an emergency. Basic First Aid participants will learn to recognize the signs and symptoms of injuries and sudden illness. This class teaches crucial information about how to deal with emergencies like bleeding, shock, burns, strains, fractures, allergic reactions, diabetic emergencies and seizures.
CPR for the Professional Rescuer (ARC)
This class is certification for Lifeguards, Health care providers, and Daycare operators. Course content includes CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, and Oxygen administration.

CPR for the Professional Rescuer Challenger (ARC)
Don't let your certification expire! Renew your CPR Pro to keep your Lifeguarding certification current. Lifeguards can prepare and test out on their own by deomnstrating knowledge in a written test and their life support skills in a performance test to get recertified.

Design Your Own Lifeguard

Are you interested in becoming certified as a lifeguard, but would rather complete the class at a faster or slower pace? If you are able to find five friends who are interested, then the Y will help coordinate a class.

Discover Scuba
These scuba classes will introduce you to diving: breathing through a regulator, clearing a mask underwater and much more, all with a hands on approach. Basic water comfort in deep water is required.

Guard Start & YMCA Swim Instructor Aide

Designed to guide youth through the American Red Cross Junior Lifeguarding and YMCA Swim Instructor Aide programs by building a foundation of knowledge, attitude, and skills for future lifeguards and swim instructors.

Junior Swim Instructor
Do you want to help change lives while learning skills that will help you get a job? We will give you the training, experience, and support necessary to be a great swim instructor. You provide a caring heart and the volunter hours, and we'll provide the instructors and students to hlp you learn and make a difference. Open to any voluteer age 12-15.

Lifeguard Instructor Course
This American Red Cross certification course will certify passing participants to instruct lifeguard training. Participants must have a lifeguard manual and packet.

Lifeguard Management Course
This American Red Cross course gives participants a background in aquatic management skills, including staff development, job-related health risks, and customer service skills. Attendance is mandatory at all sessions. Fee include participant kit, certification, and use of equipment.

Lifeguard Training

This American Red Cross certification course provides the skills and training necessary to obtain a job as a professional lifeguard. Class includes CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid and Lifeguard Training, and AED Essentials. Attendance is mandatory at all sessions for certification. Fee includes certification, equipment use and books.
Lifeguard Training Recert (ARC)
Renew and update your Lifeguard certification. The recert proces includes work in Lifeguarding and First Aid, CPR/AED and O2, practical exam and written exam. You must come already prepared to show your skills and pass examinations.

Open Water Scuba Certification
Learn the skills to be confident under water. Discover the other two thirds of the planet—become a PADI Certified Open Water Scuba Diver. Travel the world and see what others have been missing. Times don't work? Call to build your own customized class.

Water Safety Instructor


This course trains instructor candidates to teach Amrican Red Cross swimming and water safety courses. The 40-hour class includes Fundamentals of Instructor Training. Attendance is mandatory at all sessions for certification. Fee includes certification, equipment use and books.
