05/19/2012 Famous Idaho Potato Marathon

The Famous Idaho Potato Marathon is a fun full marathon, half marathon, 10K or 5K course along the Boise, Idaho greenbelt. All courses are flat and fast!
We are excited to announce that the Marathon Course for 2012 is now Certified!
We have partnered with www.idahosportspics.com to provide photos of runners on the course. A portion of the proceeds from these sales will be donated back to the YMCA. Please check out the great work that this team does.

Marathon Details:
Point-to-point 26.2 mile run, starting at Discovery Park and finishing at Ann Morrison Park

Information: Point-to-point 6.2 mile run/walk, starting at the Albertsons West Plaza parking lot on Parkcenter and finishing at Ann Morrison Park

Individuals Registration Deadline: Monday, May 14th, 2012
You may register May 15-18 for an additional $10 late fee.
Late entries will be accepted until 10pm on May 18, 2012.
Late registrations can be turned in to the YMCA Tuesday through Thursday, or at Packet Pick-up on Friday.
Team Registration Deadline: Friday, May 11th, 2012
Team entries will be accepted until 5pm on May 11th. Late team entries will not be accepted
Participant Teams
Get a group together from your office, school, church, family, or just a group of friends! Forming a team is a great way to take a step toward healthy living, and helps to build a network of people to encourage you in your fitness goals. Teams need to consist of 10 or more people and registrations should be turned in by the Team Registration Deadline, Friday, May 11th. Team participants can register online. Just ask all team members to enter your team name and team captain's name online to get the team rate.

Packet Pick-up:
Individual and team race numbers will be available on Friday, May 18 from 2:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Ann Morrison Park (race finish line).
Packets will also be available Saturday at the starting line.

Policies and Rules
To ensure a smooth run event and a good time for everyone, we ask that you read and adhere to the following race instructions.

- Please be sure to wear your race number bib on the front of your shirt. Your race number bib must be visible when crossing the finish line.
- The finish line is located near the Royal Blvd entrance of Ann Morrison Park. Parking will be available on the corner of 9th and Royal at the BSU Health Sciences Building as well as across the street at the BSU Towers.
- Marathon and Half Marathon Busses: 6:15-7:15am
10K and 5K Busses: 7:00-8:00am - If you are staying at the Boise Hotel and Conference Center, shuttle busses will pick up runners at: Marathon and Half Marathon: 6:15-6:30am 10K and 5K: 6:45-7:00am
- If you wish to change races, please see a race official at least 30 minutes prior to the start of your desired race.
- Marathon Starts at 8am at Lucky Peak State Park
- Half Marathon Starts at 8:30am at Discovery Park
- 5K & 10K start at 8:30am at Alberston's HQ
- Check all the information on your race tag to ensure it is correct. Have a race official make appropriate changes prior to your race.
- If you plan on running and walking, please sign-up as a runner. Walkers will be receiving awards for their times. Walking is defined as “One foot must be in contact with the groundat all times”. A legal race walk also requires a straight leg as it passes under the body.
- Timing chips: this year we are using bib chips, located on the back of your race number. DO NOT BEND OR REMOVE YOUR BIB CHIP. Bib chips do not need to be returned after the race.
- When running and walking on the course, please remain alert and aware and stay on the right unless you are passing. Please do not walk more than two abreast on the Greenbelt portion of the race.
- Cross roadways only where indicated by chalk-marks, cones, or race official’s instructions. All major intersections will be monitored.
- Warm-up clothes will be transported from each starting line to the finish line. Please have your belongings inside a duffel or other kind of bag marked with your race number. Please do not leave valuables inside your bag. Belongings can be picked-up at the finish line area. All warm-up clothes will be available by approximately 9:30am.
- You must have your race number visible to pick-up your race T-shirt after the race.
- All awards will be presented at the finish line as soon as the results are available. Raffle prizes will be handed out at the awards ceremony, we encourage everyone to stay.
- There will be LIMITED busses taking people from the finish back to both starting lines from 9am- 1pm. The busses going back to the starting line can be met at the corner of 9th and Lusk, just outside the park.

Transportation and Hotel Information
Parking and "Potato" Shuttle:
Park near the finish line and we'll take you to the start of the race! We will also transport your clothes (clearly marked with your name and race # on your bag) from the start line to the finish area. Parking is limited at the starting lines.
Parking is available at the BSU Health Sciences Riverside Building on the NW corner of th 9th and Royal Blvd., and the Towers Parking in the BSU lot on the East side of Capital Blvd.
Shuttle times:
Marathon & Half Marathon: 6:15am - 7:00am
5K & 10K: 7:00am - 8:00am
There will also be one bus available after the race from 9:30am-12:00pm to transport people back to the starting lines.
Hotel Information:
If you are traveling from far away to participate in the race, stay at our host hotel, the Boise Hotel and Conference Center. Mention you are participating in the YMCA Famous Idaho Potato race and rooms will start at $59.99. Contact the hotel at 1-855-611-1199.
In addition, shuttle buses will be available from the host hotel to take participants to the start lines.
Marathon & Half Marathon: 6:15am - 6:45am
5K & 10K: 7:15am
These busses will also take you from the finish line back to the hotel after the race.
