05/03/2013 Off Road Sprint Triathlon

Mountain bikers, this race is for you! By borrowing the same platform as the Spring Sprint Triathlon, the Off-Road Sprint Triathlon will consist of a Friday pool swim, followed by a Saturday bike and run taking place at the Eagle Idaho Sports Complex and VeloPark Bike Park.
Long Course: 600 Yard Swim - 8.4 Mile Mountain Bike - 3.4 Mile Trail Run
Adult participants will begin at 11:00am
Short Course: 300 Yard Swim - 4.2 Mile Mountain Bike - 1.7 Mile Trail Run
Youth (12 & under): 150 Yd Swim - 1.75 Mile Mountain Bike - .6 Mile Trail Run
Youth participants will begin at 9:30am

Want a Training Plan for the Off Road Triathlon? The Boise Y Triathlon Club has put together an eight week training plan to prepare athletes for the race. Daily workouts will be given online, as well as a clinic to practice the bike to run transition. Fee includes race entry!

Adult participants will swim 600 yards (12 laps).
Youth participants will swim 150 yards (3 laps).
Indoor water swim will be Friday, May 3, 2013.
Participants may choose from the following locations:
- Downtown Family YMCA: 1050 West State Street in Downtown Boise.
- West Family YMCA: 5959 Discovery Way in West Boise.
- Caldwell Family YMCA: 3720 S Indiana in Caldwell.
Participant swim times and lane assignments will be available beginning Wednesday afternoon at all facility front desks, and on this website. Participants will be seeded in order of estimated swim times unless you request a specific start time. Late sign-ups will be added to the end of the schedule.
All Wheelchair Athletes will start 5 minutes before regularly scheduled start times.
The bike and run portion of the race will be on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at the City of Eagle Bike Park (VeloPark) in Eagle. Participants will start in order of their actual swim finish time.
Adult: 8.4 mile Mountain Bike
Youth: 1.75 mile Mountain Bike
The youth bike course will utilize a different set of trails and take place 90 minutes prior to the adult race. The youth participants will have the course to themselves. The youth bike course is a single 1.75 mile lap on rolling terrain.
The adult bike course will be two 4.2 mile laps or a total of 8.4 miles at the City of Eagle Bike Park (aka the VeloPark). The course has approximately 300 feet of elevation gain per lap over rolling terrain. The entire course is on beginner level trails with no technical aspects. The race is limited to 29” or smaller mountain bike wheels. Cyclocross bikes with knobby tires will be allowed.
The run will start immediately following the bike course. Runners will follow signs out of transition onto the run course.
ADULT: 3.3 mile trail run
YOUTH: .60 mile trail run
The adult course is a fantastic set of rolling single track on the lower trails (D’s Chaos and Twisted Sister). Runners will complete two laps before finishing.
The Youth run will consist of approximately one kilometer of slightly flat to rolling terrain. Transition area, start and finish are located at the upper parking lot adjacent to the beginner skills park.

Are you a great runner, but hate swimming? Get some friends together and form a relay team for the Off Road Sprint Triathlon! All it takes is two or three people; a swimmer, biker and runner to sign up as a relay team. Have your team captain register all participants to get the relay team rate.

Get a group together from your office, school, church, family, or just a group of friends! Forming a team is a great way to take a step toward healthy living, and helps to build a network of people to encourage you in your fitness goals. Teams need to consist of 10 or more people. All team members will race under the same team name, but may race separately. Team participants can register online. Just ask all team members to enter your team name and team captain's name online to get the team rate.

Packet Pick-Up: Packets will be available throughout the swim portion of the race at each location on Friday May 3rd.
Downtown Family YMCA (pool): 6:00 a.m. - 8:00 a.m.
West Family YMCA (pool): 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.
Caldwell Family YMCA (pool): 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
To ensure a smooth run event and a good time for everyone, we ask that you read and adhere to the following race instructions.
Race Refund Policy:
Cancelations made 8 or more days prior to the race will receive a full refund. Cancelations made within 7 or less days prior to the race will receive a 50% refund minus a $5.00 processing fee. There are no race day refunds and no refunds after the race.
Registrations received after the early registration deadline date will receive a t-shirt the day of the race only if available. Late registrants will receive a shirt 7-10 days after the race. Shirts will be available at the Corporate Office (1177 W State St., across from the Downtown Y) for you to pick up. Participants living outside the Treasure Valley will have their shirt mailed.
