Our site at Horsethief boasts amazing views, convenient facilities, and endless fun activities. Covering more than 400 acres of forest, mountain tops, wetlands and 1500 feet of shoreline along Horsethief Reservoir, our camp encompasses nearly all that Idaho’s wild lands have to offer. Along the waterfront, our own cove provides the perfect seclusion for swimming or launching canoes and kayaks, and located next to the dam, we access some of the best fishing on the reservoir. Inland, from endless miles of hiking or biking trails, to the incredible rock formations we use for climbing and rappelling, to large tracts of wetland used for environmental education; our property provides for an intense wilderness experience.

DirectionsHorsethief Camp

From Boise, take highway 55 North to Cascade. Turn right onto Warm Lake Road. Proceed 6 miles, then turn right onto Horsethief Road. Proceed 3 miles down to the west side of the reservoir (do not turn off the main road). Our property is located at the south end of the reservoir; you will enter it shortly after the spillway.

  • Just before the gate into camp, you will cross a spillway with water running over the road most times of the year. It is safe for most cars to proceed through the spillway.

Camp is currently open from May to October with the gates open if staff are on site. Please contact us (ycamp@ymcatvidaho.org) if you wish to visit during any part of the camp season.

General InformationHorsethief Camp

Since 1905, the Treasure Valley YMCA has been offering a traditional resident camp experience for the youth of Idaho. In more than 100 years of camping, we’ve learned a thing or two!

It all begins with our staff, most of which are former campers who’ve learned through our leadership camps what it means to be a role model and who exemplify the Y’s character values or caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. Rest assured, your children are in good hands in the beautiful outdoors.

Our camp home is Horsethief Reservoir, more than 400 acres on the south side of the reservoir, just east of Cascade off Warm Lake Road.

The Treasure Valley YMCA is proud to offer the following resident camps:

Youth Camp Ages 7-12
Teen Camp Ages 13-17
