Welcoming Week is an initiative created by YMCA of the USA’s national partner Welcoming America. Between now and September 20 we will be celebrating the growing movement of communities that fully embrace newcomer immigrants and their contributions to the social fabric of our country. We believe our communities are stronger when everyone feels welcome and we work together for the common good.
Share your family’s history or journey and mark the Welcoming Week Map. Each of our Treasure Valley Family YMCA facilities has a world map located in the lobby. Stop by your facility and mark your country of heritage with a pin on the map! At the end of the week, we will share the completed map on social media.
Share how you are a Welcomer. Visit your YMCA facility and complete an “I’m a Welcomer” sign with a welcoming message, then share your sign on social media using the hashtags #WelcomingWeek and #YforAll.
Answer the Welcoming Week Question of the Day on Facebook! Visit our Y’s Facebook page from September 14–18 and respond to the Welcoming Week Question of the Day. Don’t forget to include the hashtags #WelcomingWeek and #YforAll.
Get Voter Ready! The Y is for all! At the Y, we believe that voting is critical to our democracy and that it is our right and responsibility to participate in the election process. Learn how to make sure that you are ready to vote in the U.S. general election on November 3, 2020, by checking out our Get Voter Ready tips posted on our Y’s social media.
