YMCA Response to Boise City Mask Enforcement

In response to the City of Boise’s new enforcement efforts of the COVID-19 health order, we wanted to clarify our mask policies in our Boise City facilities to keep the YMCA open and avoid any forced closures.

In accordance with both state and city ordinances at our Downtown Boise YMCA and West Boise YMCA and Boise City Aquatics Center, masks are required to be worn unless actively exercising while maintaining physical distancing of 6 feet or more. This means masks must be worn when entering the facility, while in locker rooms, when using the weight and cardio areas—unless actively working out, and in the aquatics center while not in the pool. Masks must be worn anytime we cannot guarantee that a minimum of 6 feet of physical distance is maintained, even while exercising.

The Y’s first priority is the health and safety of our members, and staff. We will make every effort to keep our community safe, alleviate the impact on the health care system, and control community spread.

We need your help to make sure all our YMCA facilities are a safe and healthy place for all.

  • Masks are required in the following areas, weight rooms, stretching rooms, gymnasiums, Strive Room (Downtown YMCA)
  • If you don’t feel well, have a fever, cough, or are having a hard time breathing, please stay home.
  • If you are awaiting the results of a COVID test, please wait until you have a negative result before you come into the Y.

If you have any questions or concerns about the Y’s policies around mask enforcement, please reach out to our leadership team at communications@ymcatvidaho.org.Thank you so much for helping to keep the YMCA safe, healthy, and open so we can better serve you.

Sincerely,
