Nick is a member of the Boise Bombers Wheelchair Rugby team, as an athlete he dedicates time to his physical health and wellbeing. For Youth Development – A Y Story

“My son loves attending the Y. He is always excited when it is “Y” day – and simply knowing he is able to do something he loves on a regular basis makes me confident this has a positive impact on his life. I have been so pleased – by what seems so simple – but the fact that at drop off – when we walk through the door he is always warmly and enthusiastically greeted by name. This really helps him feel a sense of belonging and gives him a great start to his day outside of the home.”—YMCA Member

For Social Responsibility – A Y Story

“Yesterday, one of our middle-schoolers came into my office and asked if he could talk. I asked him what was up and he began to talk to me about how he was having a hard week because of some stuff going on at home. While we talked he had brought in a guitar and was randomly playing it with in sequences of our conversation. I asked him how long he had played the guitar and he had told Nick (one of our counselors) had taught him a year ago. It was apparent that in this kid’s life the Y was much more than an afterschool hangout. It was a place where he had friends and counselors who were there for him when life was falling apart. I was very privileged to be able to hang out with such an incredible individual yesterday. It was a real-life case moment that was simple but very impactful.”—YMCA Member

Virtual Group Ex – A Y Story

“After shelter-in-place orders were implemented, my YMCA did not miss a beat. Within days they started online classes. Because the YMCA was able to adapt so quickly, I have been able to enjoy a wide range of exercise classes that I’ve never done before: P90X, Insanity, a resistance band class, a foam roller class, Thirty-minute Abs, and even Zumba, all from the safety and convenience of my home. I might come out of this quarantine healthier than when it started!”—YMCA Member
