Overview

  • Team formation
    • Teams are coed and the following criteria will be used to form teams from players that register prior to the registration deadline:
      • Coach/Teammate Request
      • Date of Registration
      • School location
  • Practice Information Practice times and locations are to be decided by each individual team. School gyms will be closed and unavailable for use by the YMCA. Outdoor courts are open to the public, and what we recommend you use.  Practice time and location must be shared with the YMCA before practice begins.
  • The volunteer coach of your player’s team will choose what day, time and location for practices and will communicate that information to the team before the beginning of practices. In divisions that are smaller, teams may be made from multiple schools, so practices may be a little further from where you are located.
  • Coaching & Volunteering The YMCA does NOT provide coaches for this program. All coaches are volunteers. Coaches are provided resources and training as needed and we are happy to support all coaches in any way possible. In this case we ask that parents of those teams work to identify a coach for the team.
    • All coaches are unpaid volunteers who give their time to improve the lives of players and help develop skills in basketball and the art of teamwork and effort. Coaches are subject to a background check and are selected based on past coaching history and experience working with youth. No contact information is released until a background check is complete. Safety is a commitment we make to youth. You can volunteer at https://ymcatvidaho.volunteermatters.org/
  • Coaches: Make sure to complete the full form through the online portal. This includes entering your birth date and social security number. Our background check process includes both a national and local review. The background check process takes 72 business hours.
