The Weight Loss Exercise Program is a 12-WEEK FITNESS INTERVENTION program designed to help manage diabetes and track changes in HbA1c levels and fitness parameters. This is an exercise program for those with Diabetes (Type I or II), pre-diabetics or for anyone who is at risk for developing either pre-diabetes or type II diabetes. It is proven that exercising consistently can lower blood glucose and improve A1C. When the A1C value is lowered, participants may be able to take fewer diabetes medications or less insulin. Physical activity is also important for overall well-being and can help with many other health conditions such as lowering blood pressure and cholesterol, lowers the risk of heart disease and stroke while increasing energy levels and maintaining healthy body weight. Evidence shows exercise plays a major role in the prevention and control of insulin resistance, prediabetes, type 2 diabetes, and diabetes-related health complications. The Diabetes Exercise Program meets 2 times a week, the curriculum includes a warm-up, cardiovascular/strength exercises as well as flexibility and core work.
