YMCA Famous Idaho Potato Marathon & Fun Runs are back for the 45th year!
All courses are flat and fast for this fun full, half, 10K & 5K run on the Boise Greenbelt. Here are some Fast Facts about the Famous Idaho Potato that might answer race day questions.

Packet Pick Up:  Friday, May 12, 3:00-7:00 pm for all distances!
Come pick up your packet and t-shirt, and visit with vendors before race day to ensure you have all the last-minute race day items. Avoid the lines on race day and pick up your packet on Friday. Albertson’s HQ (250 E Parkcenter Blvd, Boise). We highly recommend picking it up on Friday, May 12.

  • Half & Full Marathoners – Sat, May 13, 5-6:30 am at Albertson’s HQ in the bus loading area.
    No bibs will be given at the half and full Marathon start. You must pick up your bib at Albertson’s HQ before coming to the start. 
  • 5K & 10K  – Sat, May 13, 8:30 am-10:00 am at Albertson’s HQ

Start Times & Locations:
Full and Half Marathon – 7 am at Lucky Peak State Park/Sandy Point
5K/10K – 10 am at Albertsons Headquarters

Parking:
Parking is available at Albertsons Headquarters in both the east and west lots of the building. The west will be closed before the 5K & 10K start and will have limited access as finishers enter the area. We recommend that full and half marathoners park in the west lot and 5K & 10K runners park in the east lot. There is NO parking on the street or the BSU Yanke lot.                           

“Potato” Shuttle Pick-Up Times
5:00 am-6:30 am (Buses do fill up, so don’t wait for the last bus)
Catch the shuttle at Albertsons Headquarters at 250 E Parkcenter Blvd. Boise.
You must have a Bib Number to ride the bus to the starting line.
Park near the finish line, and we’ll take you to the start of the race! Buses will pick up at the Finish line, Albertsons HQ on Parkcenter Blvd.  Parking is limited at the starting line for the full and half marathons. Be aware the road into the full and half Marathon closes starting at 6:45 am to all traffic other than buses. Please be respectful of our bus drivers and other participants.  *No Transportation will be available back to the start area at Lucky Peak.

Course Maps & Information

Course Maps: Remember that the full and half marathons are point-to-point races, finishing in the same location as the 5K/10K race. The 5K/10K races start and finish in the same location, Albertson’s Headquarters.
Safety When On Course:
When running and walking on the course, please remain alert, do not follow other runners as there are four courses, know where you turn for your distance, and KEEP RIGHT EXCEPT FOR PASSING! No more than two abreast on the Greenbelt portion of the race. The Greenbelt is open to the public during the race. Cross roadways only where indicated by chalk marks, cones, or race officials’ instructions. All major intersections will be monitored.

“Potato” Shuttle Pick-Up Times

Masks are required when in line and on buses for this event. Also, remember no dogs on the buses, and some strollers do not fit on the buses. Please be respectful of our bus drivers and other participants.

*No Transportation will be available back to the start area at Lucky Peak.

Water Stations will be approximately every 2 miles up until mile 20. Then the stations will be approximately 1.5 apart. All stations will have water. Stations on the full and half will have electrolyte drinks (Gatorade is our official hydration sponsor).  Restrooms are located at the start and finish areas near miles 2.5, 6, 8, 10, 14, 17, 19.5, 21 & 23.

Volunteers are the heart and soul of the Y. We have opportunities for you to volunteer and help us make the YMCA Famous Idaho Potato Marathon the best family-friendly event in the Treasure Valley. Over 2,000 participants are a part of the run, and we need volunteers to help make it possible! Learn how you can volunteer below.

All volunteers are required to complete an online application for YMCA Events. Look for the One Day Event Application near the bottom of the page once you have entered basic information. If you have questions or want more information about volunteering, don’t hesitate to contact the Race & Events Team at events.volunteer@ymcatvidaho.org.

Volunteer Responsibilities:

  • Help with late registrations
  • Hand out t-shirts
  • Assign bib numbers to participants
  • Learn the courses and answer questions about race maps and instructions
  • Marathon & Half Marathon Race Day Packet Pick Up and Shuttle Crew – 5:15 am
  • Race Day Packet Up, 8 am
  • Lead cyclist for all distances
  • Athlete bag check area
  • Race Swag  Tent
  • Set up start and finish line areas
  • Course monitors (get the best view of the race!)
  • Hand out medals
  • Water station at the finish line
  • Break-down and clean-up crew
  • Clean Team – trash & recycle

Policies

Cancellation Policy: Cancellations made less than 15 days before the race/event will receive no refund. Cancellations made more than 15 days prior will receive a 50% refund either as a check or a system credit. The system credit may only be applied to another YMCA race/event within the current calendar year. Entries, once purchased, may not be transferred, resold, exchanged, or given to another person. We hope very much that you can join us on race day. We value your participation and want to provide you with a memorable and quality race day.
