Famous Idaho Potato Marathon

The YMCA Famous Idaho Potato Marathon, presented by the Idaho Potato Commission, is a fun full marathon, half marathon, 10K or 5K course along the Boise, Idaho greenbelt. All courses are flat and fast! This marathon can be used to qualify for the 2021 Boston Marathon. Bring the entire family out for this event! We have a distance that will work for everyone.
Enjoy a Famous Idaho Potato Bar with all the fix’ns after the race prepared by Life’s Kitchen for all race participants.
All distances receive medals!

Start Times & Location:
Marathon & Half Marathon – 7am at Sandy Point State Park
10K & 5K – 10am at Albertsons Headquarters West Parking Lot
New Finish Line location: Albertsons Headquarters in the West Parking Lot (250 E Parkcenter Blvd, Boise)

YMCA Famous Idaho Potato Expo & Packet Pick-up
Date: May 29, 2020 from 3pm-8pm Join us at the YMCA Famous Idaho Potato Expo! Pick up your race number and much more.
Packet Pick Up Location: Located at 250 E Parkcenter Blvd in the Albertsons West Parking Lot in the northeast corner. We highly recommend that you pick up your packet at this time.

Parking and Transportation Shuttle Times & Pick Up Locations:

Parking and “Potato” Shuttle: Park near the finish line and we’ll take you to the start of the race! We will also transport your clothes (clearly marked with your name and race # on your bag) from the start line to the finish area. Parking is limited at the starting lines.
Buses will pick-up in the Albertsons Headquarters Parking Lot off of Parkcenter Blvd.

  • Parking is available at the Albertsons Headquarters Parking Lot off of Parkcenter Blvd and at BSU Yanke Family Research Park.

Shuttle times & Pick Up Locations:
Buses will pick-up in the Albertsons Headquarters Parking Lot (250 E Parkcenter Blvd) in the front of the corporate building
Marathon & Half Marathon: 5:15am-6:30am (last Bus leaves at 6:30am)

*No transportation will be available back to the start area so please make arrangements if you need them.*

Team Participants
Get a group together from your office, school, church, family, or just a group of friends! Forming a team is a great way to take a step toward healthy living, and helps to build a network of people to encourage you in your fitness goals. Teams need to consist of 10 or more people. All team members will race under the same team name, but may complete different distances. Team participants can register online. Just ask all team members to enter your team name and team captain’s name online to get the team rate. Team Registration closes on May 24 at 11pm.

NO RACE DAY ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED for Full and Half Marathon

Packet Pick-up May 29: All participants must pick up their race numbers on Friday, May 29 from 3-8pm at The Albertsons Headquarter West Parking lot (250 E Parkcenter Blvd Boise, 83702). Packets will also be available Saturday at the starting line.

Course Maps & Information

Water/Aid Stations: These will be located along the full marathon course approximately every two miles through mile 20, and approximately every mile thereafter. Half marathon, 10k, and 5k runners will have aid stations at least once every two miles. Gatorade is our exclusive sport beverage for the water stations.

  • Strollers are welcome, they must start in the back of the pack.
  • We will do our best to accommodate any wheelchair or special needs competitors.
  • Headphones are okay on the course. We ask that you be aware of your surrounding on the course and encourage you to remove your headphones when running on the road.

Policies

To ensure a smooth run event and a good time for everyone, we ask that you read and adhere to the following race instructions.

Due to confusion caused by numerous people choosing to take the short course last year, we must change our timing policy. If you change distances once the race has started you will receive a DNF, you will not be listed as a finisher at any distance. You may change distances up until May 29, 2020 but may not change distances after that date.

COVID-19 Refund Policy:
With the evolving circumstances around COVID-19 the YMCA would like to offer 3 option to participant who are registered for the Famous Idaho Potato Event. not able to participant in the Famous Idaho Potato. Please concerned all options:

• Option 1: Move to the other YMCA Event in 2020 or 2021. We will issue you a credit to use towards another YMCA Event
• Option 2: Donate the fee to the YMCA to support operations during this difficult time. We encourage you to consider this option.
• Option 3: Request a full refund of your registration fee be applied back to the credit card or bank account used to make payment.

If you elect option one or three please email us at racedirector@ymcatvidhao.org, include Famous Potato in the subject of the email and we will respond to you as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience and understanding. Please do not hesitate to contact us with questions, comments, or feedback. Stay well.

 

Refund Policy: Cancellations made less than 15 days prior to the race/event will receive no refund. Cancellations made more than 15 days prior will receive a 50% refund either as a check or a system credit. The system credit may only be applied to another YMCA race/event within the current calendar year. Entries, once purchased, may not be transferred, resold, exchanged, or given to another person. We hope very much that you are able to join us on race day. We value your participation and want to provide you with a memorable and quality race day. Please contact the Race Director at racedirector@ymcatvidaho.org with any questions.
